Bio: Bill Stonehouse
It all began in Southern California where Bill Stonehouse was born. By the age of 7 he was convinced that he could do the same thing he he saw young Wayne Newton doing. “I was singing everything from Elvis to the Beach Boys – whatever was on the radio, I sang it.”As a teen, he worked at Dino’s Italian Inn in Pasadena where he was often asked to sing songs by Jerry Vale, Al Martino and MarioLanza. Later he went on to proudly serve eight years in the US military stationed primarily at Ft Bragg, NC.
A classically trained vocalist, Bill studied opera under Seniors Primo Puccinelli and Francesco Sorignello. As a high C baritone, Bill’s voice can span 4 octaves. The intensity and range of his voice are just amazing. His forte is as a Big Band crooner. “I was definitely influenced by the Vegas scene…Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, theat whole Big Band sound.” A complete musician, Bill has played several instruments including piano and the guitar, which he learned by ear, as well as the drums and harmonica. His best instrument, however, has proven to be his voice.
Bio: Lauren Meehan
A Professional singer and entertainer for more than 15 years, Lauren Meehan has performed as a Big Band and Jazz vocalist in New England and along the East Coast; including North Carolina where she now resides with her husband and children.
Lauren’s career ignited at the age of 16 with musical influence from the classic early Jazz and Swing era of Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, and Billie Holiday and the Big Band sounds of Duke Ellington, The Dorsey Brother’s Orchestras and Glen Miller. Modern inspiration which influenced her career goals came from the iconic Diana Krall, Broadway artist Linda Eder and under the baton of the legendary Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops where she has performed as a guest vocalist on multiple occasions.
Her soft, and sultry voice has been enjoyed by audiences at prestigious programs headlined by President George W. Bush; as well as the late comedian Don Rickles. Her stirring renditions of the National Anthem have spirited rapt attention from sports audiences at Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and ACC championship games. Regarded as a show stopping entertainer, Lauren has opened for the touring Glen Miller Band in Asheville and the USO.
On the International stage, Lauren Meehan performed with the 2006 U.K. tour headlining the Compaq Big Band during performances in Ludlow, Bath, Bristol and London. Broadway recognizes Lauren after performances with the touring cast of Phantom of the Opera in “Phantom Swings”.
At age 19, she dedicated a full year to promoting her platform as Miss New Hampshire 2000; a project which carried her to a national television audience on stage at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City.
Always busy with her family and children in their North Carolina home, Lauren finds time to continue her vocal studies and join famed vocalist Linda Eder in her Master Class. When she is not opening for the North Carolina Reveler’s Orchestra as feature vocalist, she is performing with the Moonlighter’s Orchestra, Half Past Six and her most recent jazz collaboration LJM Jazz Ensemble.
